Rosemary Wilson

Determined Leadership Delivering Results for Virginia Beach

Rosemary Wilson is a Virginia Beach leader who gets real results. As Vice-
Mayor, Rosemary plays an integral role in moving Virginia Beach forward and
making Virginia Beach a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Rosemary is a graduate of Bayside High School and a summa cum laude
graduate of Old Dominion University. She is a former teacher and a realtor
with Howard Hanna Real Estate. Rosemary served on the Virginia Beach
School Board as Vice-Chair and was first elected to City Council in 2000.
Rosemary was part of the team that protected NAS Oceana from closure,
saving many thousands of jobs and strengthening our partnership with the
military.
Rosemary founded Virginia Beach’s swim program which gives lifesaving
swimming lessons to children to prevent drownings. It was named best new
program by the Virginia Society of Recreation and Parks and Rosemary was
awarded Volunteer of the Year.
Rosemary has been recognized with countless awards and one of the most
influential women in Virginia and for achievements in business. She is also a
fellow of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at UVA and the Civic
Leadership Institute at ODU. She has also served as Chair of the Virginia
Municipal League and co-chair of Cycle for Survival to support cancer
research.
She is represents the City of Virginia Beach on the Southside Network Authority, serves on the Beaches and Waterways Advisory Commission, the Development Authority,
the Health Services Advisory Board and the Historic Preservation Commission
and School Modernization Special Project. Vice-Mayor Wilson also serves on the Oceana Land Use Conformity Committee.
